  • I can't come to the hostel anymore because of the Corona virus threats.
    Now that most of the corona virus restrictions have been lifted from other countries our cancellation policy is back to normal. To keep up to date with the Swedish Authorities guidelines here is a link to help keep updated on the situation. We recommend to check your countries travel authorities on your countries guidelines for leaving and entering the country.
  • Is it safe for me to stay in a hostel during this time?
    Yes, of course. We are a very sociable hostel. We ask every traveler to stay home if they don't feel well until they feel better, to take responsibility for other visitors.
  • Can I still come when I want to visit Stockholm?
    More than welcome! Our hostel is open 365 days of the year. Our reception opening hours are from 9AM. Check-in will only be possible after 2 PM but you are welcome to store your luggage here before that time. If you are arriving after Reception desk opening hours, please make us aware and we will send you all the information for a late checkin. There will be clear instructions or someone will help you out during your arrival. We welcome all travelers that are in good health and don't want to cancel their trip to Stockholm. If you feel the slightest illness, we recommend you to not come to the hostel until you are feeling better because it's good to be thoughtful to other travelers and of course that you can get most out of your stay feeling 100% well.
  • What is the best way to make a booking?
    Making a booking directly trough our own website is the easiest way for us to manage your booking. You are always sure to have the best price online and you don't have to prepay anything on our website. Be aware that you are supporting us in the best way by not booking trough a third-party channel but booking directly with us!
  • How can I book a bed at the hostel?
    Yes! To add a picture follow these simple steps: Go to the tab 'book online' at the top of the screen Select the room type that you prefer Add your personal details and payment information Confirm your booking and you will receive a confirmation email. See you soon!
  • What if I can not make it to the hostel anymore, am I able to cancel my reservation free of charge?"
    Free cancellation is valid until 12:00 PM (noon) two days prior to your arrival. In case of a late cancellation or no show, the property is entitled to charge an amount equal to the first night of your stay.
  • I want to bring my friends to the hostel and we are a big group (+12). Can I book online?
    It's best to get in touch with us directly regarding big group bookings. Different policies apply to group bookings and we are able to give your group a better service if you contact us direceltly.
  • I have booked trough a third party channel, can I pay the full balance?"
    Please note, when making only a booking (with or without web deposit) we will be taking the remaining payment only upon check-in date. When making a non-refundable booking, we have the right to take payment immediately when the reservation is a confirmed booking.
  • What does 'twin room' mean?
    Twin stands for a private room for two people. It's a private room with one bunk bed inside. We don't offer single private rooms.
  • What does 'ensuite room' mean?
    Ensuite stands for a room with private facilities like a bathroom and a toilet inside your room.
  • Is it possible to check-in early?
    Most of the rooms are ready after 2 PM but you are able to do a pre-check-in free of charge. This allows you to store your luggage in our luggage room and use all hostel facilities except for your room.
  • Is it possible to enter my room after reception closing time?
    City Backpackers is open 24 hours with no curfew. Reception opening hours are currently between: 09.00 - 20:00 (9AM-8PM) Mondays to Saturdays and from 09:00-16:00 (9am- 4pm) on Sundays. If you're planning on arriving after Reception desk opening hours, please contact reception in advance, to arrange late arrival. You will need a door code to gain entry.
  • Do I need Swedish kronor (SEK) to pay for my booking?
    NOTE that we are now a cash free hostel, so this means we do not accept cash and you can only pay by credit card - Visa/Mastercard or Maestro or Apple pay. This is due to Covid 19 and we try to minimize physical contact. We do not accept Euro's or any other currency. Please be aware that Sweden is very credit card friendly and you would in the whole not need to have any cash with you during your trip in Stockholm.
  • Is there car parking facilities nearby?
    We don't have private parking on the hostels property. There is an underground parking lot just outside of the hostel beneath the City Conference Center. You can also pay outside on the streets, just be aware they are very strict with parking fines! Alternatively you could find a P+R parking outside of the city and commute by metro to the center.
  • Does your hostel have a bar?
    Yes! Our friends at Nomad, just next door, are running a cosy Swedish restaurant and bar. Come and checkout their innovative dishes. Best meatballs in town!
  • Are there lockers in the hostel?
    Every room has lockers inside. There's one locker for every bed. If you have bigger luggage you can also use our lockers in the common area's or store some belongings in the luggage room. Our lockers work with padlocks so you are free to bring your own or to buy one here in the reception for 60 SEK.
  • Can I store my luggage when I check-out?
    Yes, we have a luggage room that you can use free of charge. Just pick up the code of the luggage room in the morning you are planning to leave.
  • I will travel within Sweden after my time with your hostel, could I leave my luggage at the hostel during the time I am away."
    No, unfortunately we often get this request but we don't have the space to store many luggages. We can make an exception if you are going away for only one or two days and have a second reservation at our hostel. Please talk to someone in reception to clarify.
  • Can I wash my clothes at the hostel? Is there a laundry service?
    Yes, we have guest laundry for 50 SEK per load. This includes use of the washing and drying machine and the washing detergent needed.
  • Does your hostel offer breakfast? Is it included in my booking?
    The breakfast can be added upon check-in or you can buy it in the morning for 95 SEK per person per day. Child price is 50 SEK per person per day. It is not automatically added when you make a reservation. Our amazing breakfast includes: - A sandwich - Muesli with yoghurt - Orange juice - Tea or coffee Let us know if you have any special request or if you are a big group so we can prepare ourselves in the morning. Unfortunately we do not offer a vegan, lactose- or gluten free breakfast. But if we know in advance, then we can try to get the ingredients in.
  • Do you have user friendly facilities for disabled people?
    Our hostel is located in a very old building with a lot of stairs and different levels. It's not the easiets place for people with a disability to get around.
  • Can I bring my own bed sheets or sleeping bag to the hostel?
    No, the bed sheets are compulsory to rent from us for 35 SEK per person as a one-time cost. You can add a towel too at check-in for 60 SEK together. Normally towels costs 30 SEK.
  • Am I allowed to wear my shoes inside?
    We are in Sweden and here it's very common to keep shoes off indoors. Especially during winter days or when it's rainy this makes a lot of sense! It's also much easier to keep the hostel clean for all the other guests if you take your shoes off when you come in. We have a lot of space to store shoes and you are very welcome to bring your own slippers!
  • Could you keep a bottom bed for me?
    Asking for a Bottom bed on a bunkbed is on request basis only. Please note that we cannot guarantee. It depends on the guests currently staying in the room.
  • Can I bring my own liquer or alcoholic drinks?
    You are allowed to bring beers or wine inside the hostel or drink them in our reception lounge. Just be aware that we don't tolerate hard liquers and that we need to have it quiet inside our hostel area's from 11 PM, feel free to spend time in the reception during night time.
  • Do you accept pets at the hostel?
    Pet's are fine in our reception area but are not allowed inside the hostel building.
